President & CEO
Dustin serves as the President & CEO of Benchmark Communities and in this capacity has created a team of individuals who not only share his passion for building community but also reflect his principals and drive.
Dustin began his career in the Northern California title industry, where his signature work ethic and can-do spirit propelled him into his profession. After several years in residential and commercial development services, he started with Wellington Corporation of Northern California, a subsidiary of Triple Five National Development Company.
At Wellington, Dustin assumed the responsibilities of director of land acquisitions and development, taking the reigns when it came to the management of the California real estate portfolio, including acquisition, disposition and development. Dustin and the executive team at Wellington created two portfolio technology start-ups: Bridgewater Ventures, an early-stage venture capital company, and Cenatek, Inc., a solid-state storage device company where Dustin acted as EVP. He furthered his career as vice president of development and sales at Landcastle Real Estate before setting out on his next big move.
In 2004, Dustin put his industry experience to good use by tackling his biggest entrepreneurial venture yet: founding Union Community Partners, LLC. Over the next four years, Union Community Partners, LLC went on to acquire and entitle many successful communities in Northern California. In 2008, Union Community Partners, LLC was acquired by PICO Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: PICO) and the name was changed to UCP, LLC. Since the acquisition, UCP, LLC has invested over $145 million in residential real estate in Northern California and, as of 2010, the Puget Sound region of Washington State. Benchmark Communities, LLC was created in 2010 with the express intent of creating outstanding communities with exceptional value and sustainability.
